World Service Trip
LIT Beyond Borders: Dominican Republic
The world becomes bigger when you have the opportunity to see it.
For many young people, international travel can feel like something meant for someone else.
At the Carlo & Nika White Foundation, we want our scholars to know that the world belongs to them, too.
Graduating seniors from our Leaders in Training (LIT) program have the opportunity to participate in a fully funded international service experience in the Dominican Republic—stepping beyond what is familiar to experience a new culture, serve others, build relationships, and see the world from a new perspective.
Because sometimes, all it takes is exposure to see what's possible.
FROM OUR COMMUNITY TO THE WORLDOur mission doesn't stop at home.
To build strong relationships to impact our environment, community, and the world by improving our academics, self-esteem, and making righteous decisions.
LIT Beyond Borders gives our scholars an opportunity to put that mission into action.
In partnership with New Life of Excellence Church, scholars spend a week in the Dominican Republic serving alongside local communities through food distribution, home construction, children's programs, and other community-centered service projects.
But what they build during that week goes far beyond homes.
They build relationships.
They build perspective.
They build compassion.
They build an understanding of a world bigger than their own.
Our Leaders in Training Mission:
We remove the barriers so our scholars can experience the world.
For many of our LIT scholars, this will be their first time traveling internationally.
Some will receive their first passport.
Some will take their first international flight.
Some will experience another country and culture for the very first time.
We don't believe cost should determine whether a young person gets an opportunity to see more of the world.
That's why CNWF fully funds the World Service Trip for participating LIT seniors.
NO PASSPORT? NO PROBLEM.

The trip ends. The impact doesn’t.
Bringing the experience home.
The World Service Trip may last a week.
The lessons shouldn't.
Our hope is that scholars bring what they experience in the Dominican Republic back into their homes, schools, careers, relationships, and communities.
That they lead with greater compassion.
That they recognize the dignity and value in people whose lives may look different from their own.
That they remain willing to serve.
That they continue exploring.
And that they use their experiences to help another young person see what's possible.
Because the true measure of the journey isn't only how far they travel.
