LEADERS IN TRAINING (LIT)

Leadership starts long before the title.

Equipping young scholars with the confidence, character, relationships, and skills to positively influence their lives, their communities, and the world around them.

OUR MISSION

To build strong relationships to impact our environment, community, and the world by improving our academics, self-esteem, and making righteous decisions.

WHAT IS LIT?

More than a leadership program

A place to learn, connect, grow, serve, and lead.

Leaders in Training (LIT) is the youth leadership initiative of the Carlo and Nika White Foundation in partnership with Legacy Early College.

Through mentorship, interactive lessons, meaningful conversations, community service, wellness, academic development, and exposure to new experiences, scholars learn that leadership isn't reserved for adults or people with titles.

Leadership is influence—and they already have it.

EVERYONE HAS INFLUENCE.

How will you use yours?

LIT challenges scholars to understand that their choices, words, habits, relationships, and actions influence the people and environments around them.

This connects directly into the leadership curriculum.

THE LIT FRAMEWORK

The 4 Ws of Leadership

Leadership isn't something we simply talk about. It's something we practice.

Why Legacy Early College?

  • "My time in LIT has taught me a lot about myself and the importance of giving back to the community. I have learned essential qualities like being aware of my mental health, financial responsibility, and how my participation in the community makes a difference." - Amiyah Downs, Class of 2027

    LIT SCHOLAR TESTIMONIAL

  • "LIT taught me to identify where I am influencing others, and ensure that I steward that influence with intention and excellence. This mindset helped me create a safe and welcoming environment for middle schoolers as a teacher cadet and preschoolers as an assistant teacher at Croft Christian Academy. Knowing the power of my influence encouraged me to affirm future teachers and volunteer with youth, reminding them to dream again. - Benjamin Luines, Class of 2025

    LIT SCHOLAR TESTIMONIAL

  • Because of LIT, I now value the importance of adding value to the people around me. By influencing them, I am leaving my mark and building my network. This is how I was able to to have recognized professors provide references for me to become a lab assistant. - Tilo Lopez, Class of 2025

    LIT SCHOLAR TESTIMONIAL

  • LIT taught me how to enjoy the journey. As you go through life, there's many different experiences that help you grow as a person! I remind myself that it's my first time for many things, including college. As a first-gen, it's hard navigating through some things, but I always figure it out! - Ashlee Gutierrez Garcia, Class of 2023

    LIT SCHOLAR TESTIMONIAL

  • "LIT taught me how to stand out amongst the crowd." - Jacobi Barfield, Class of 2021

    LIT SCHOLAR TESTIMONIAL

  • "What I value most about my LIT experience is the opportunity to be surrounded by individuals who are intentional about personal growth, faith, leadership, and community. Having a network of people who encourage one another to pursue their ambitions while remaining grounded in their values is incredibly meaningful to me." - Alejandro Jaramillo, Class of 2021

    LIT SCHOLAR TESTIMONIAL

  • "LIT helped me blossom my ability to speak with strangers and to be more willing to help others." This program also gave me wonderful opportunities to travel and give back to not only my community, but communities outside of my country; setting a fire to a passion of helping others around me." - Joshua Harkness, Class of 2026
